Studio 12

Studio 12 is a free network in which allows access to visual and auido production to young people who are between the ages of 16 and 30, who live in leeds. A charity based organsisation they prise themslves on open the creative industries to those who do not have the oppourtunity to go to university/have a further education.

Being involved within multiple projects such as the British art show, and writing Britain they strive to make design and visual production accessible to all, and focus largely upon the north of England.

One key idea in which was resmbled throughout the presenation is that once people often gain a successful career they move from the north to london, a factor in which means talent is produced in the north but then leaves. It was suggested that to make the north a more powerful influence designs should stay within leeds, manchester, sheffield, and liverpool rather than retreating to the south. As I personally am unsure upon my future career path and the location in which I wish to take, I found this highly inspiring and it somewhat made myself as a designer want to stay within the north after my career.

As a class we were briefed upon Leeds Zine fair. Focusing upon leeds culture and heritage, the zine fair would be a chance to exhbit my work and to explore others work. As I was planning on developing a zine for COP this may be a chance to exhbit my work and gain some attention as a designer.
