Pantone colour of the year

As a designer colour is a key way in which to express atmosphere, and thus pantones are highly important. Whether sending a design to a printers/coders or developing a product for a client, pantones are internationally known and recognised. As a result of this it is highly important that the pantone colour of the year is considered.

During 2016, two colours were selected for the colour of the year and were used prominently within design, fashion and advertising.

I personally developed my own buisness cards in compliance to the colour of the year in order to develop a fresh, upcoming product.

With Greenery being this year's colour of the year, I hope that the selected colour allows for a large focus upon the environment, as the colour itself reflects the fresh ambiance of nature. The selected colour may be used in order to promote this idea further within the packaging industry, whereby mass environmental damage is expressed each year.

Examples of how 2016's pantone colours of the year were put into context.

Examples of how greenery is already being used in compliance to Pantone.

Pantone cult following?

It may be suggested that in some terms Pantone has a cult following as its has 782K followers on instagram. Pantone also has a vast brand with its iconic typefaces appearing on multiple products. As a result of this the usage of iconic pantone colours within my design is highly important.
