The british ironworks

The British Ironwork centre was visited with my family, as I personally have an large interest in sculptures, having previously visited the Hepworth and Yorkshire sculpture Park. The centre is located in Oswestry, Shropshire.

The British Ironwork Museum is decorative ironwork centre showcasing items from suits of armour to animal sculptures and lamps. The centre itself offers a wide variety of workshops in order to fund the exhibitions present. Being a large lover of animals, my favourite exhibition visited was that of the wild animal collection. Developed at mass scale, the exhibition explores 100's of animal themed sculptures from Rhinos to pigs. One Of my favourite was that of the Gorilla expressed below.

The Gorilla expressed within the above image was developed from 30,000 spoons

The majority of the sculptures developed, have been created by the blacksmiths at the centre, although special exhibition pieces are also brought in from other artists. Small scale sculptures are also for sale, in turn allowing the centre to develop a profit.

Animals are often placed within humours locations throughout the park.

Unlike most exhibitions you are allowed to engage with the sculptures present, with comical poses being expressed upon the information plaque. This therefore making the exhibition far more family orientated, as children are not constantly being asked to stop touching the displays.

Lampshade collection developed by the centre, available for sale

Within the inside exhibitions different time periods have been expressed through house displays. Within the displays products are also available for sale. This is an encouraging, and engaging way in which to gain the consumer's attention, and allow a real life setting for the products.
