Networking at Brudenell

A visit was made to Brudenell social club was made in order to assist Jen with a forthcoming project. When asking individuals to have their photograph taken, as part of Jens project, we became talking to a group of designers, who studied at Lca only a couple of years previous.

After having a discussion with them, we were able to gather a greater understanding upon what it will be like once we leave the course. One suggested that although he had won a D&AD and YCN reward these little helped his career. This came as a surprise to myself as the D&AD festival is renown for gaining job opportunities. He later went onto suggest that he has now changed his career path and is currently doing illustration, but the design skills in which he learnt within university still effect his creative decisions.

His friend went onto suggest that working in industry is completely different to university, and that you learn far more within your first year than within your entire degree. As a result of this I do believe it to be essential that I complete a work placement in order to gather a feel for the industry.
